Before joining Plotkin, Vincent & Jaffe, L.L.C., Mark E. Jaffe practiced for 10 years in the litigation department of Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann L.L.C., where he spent four years as a partner in that prominent New Orleans law firm. At Stone Pigman, he litigated complicated cases involving wrongful death, professional legal and accounting malpractice, securities, and RICO claims, among others. His clients included the family of a deceased scuba diver, a software company, banks, investors, insurance companies, and multinational law firms.
Before his 10-year stint at Stone Pigman, Mr. Jaffe was an associate for nearly three years at Proskauer Rose L.L.P. in New York, where he practiced commercial litigation with an emphasis on sports and intellectual property law. He worked on complicated legal matters for a television network, professional sports leagues and franchises, insurance companies, and many other businesses.
Mr. Jaffe obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and political science from Duke University. After graduating from Duke in 1992, Mr. Jaffe worked for three years in journalism before attending law school. He received his J.D. from the New York University School of Law in 1998.
Since 2011, Mr. Jaffe has devoted his practice to representing seriously injured plaintiffs in complicated cases. He and his partners represented the mother of a child who died of an infection contracted at a Louisiana hospital due to a fungal outbreak in the facility. The firm also has represented a professional stunt performer who was severely injured as a result of an equipment malfunction on a movie set. The firm currently represents a young woman who became a quadruple amputee, in part, due to the administrative negligence of another Louisiana hospital.
Mr. Jaffe also represents clients with occupational lung disease, particularly claims arising from coal worker’s pneumoconiosis, silica, and asbestos. Much of that litigation involves product liability claims relating to NIOSH-approved dust respirators.
Mr. Jaffe’s reported decisions include:
Conwill v. Greenberg Traurig, L.L.P., 2010 WL 3021553 (E.D. La. 2010)
Louque v. Allstate Ins. Co., 314 F.3d 776 (5th Cir. 2002)
Mr. Jaffe is admitted to practice law in Louisiana and is a member of the American Bar Association, Louisiana Association for Justice, and Louisiana State Bar Association.
Mr. Jaffe is married, and he enjoys playing softball, watching his sons play soccer, and attending New Orleans Pelicans games with his family.
